Reconstitution Guide
Reconstituting lyophilized peptides
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides arrive as a solid powder and must be reconstituted with a suitable solvent before use in research. This guide covers the general laboratory procedure.
What you'll need
- Your lyophilized peptide vial
- Bacteriostatic or sterile water (the solvent)
- A sterile syringe
- Alcohol swabs
General procedure
- Allow the vial to reach room temperature.
- Swab both vial stoppers with alcohol.
- Draw your chosen volume of solvent into the syringe.
- Inject the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial — never directly onto the powder.
- Let it dissolve on its own, or swirl gently. Do not shake.
- Once fully clear, the peptide is reconstituted.
Use our peptide calculator to work out draw volumes for your target amount per draw.
