Research Focus

Selank is studied chiefly as an anxiolytic. What distinguishes it in the literature is that research reports anxiolytic activity without the sedation, cognitive dulling or dependence associated with benzodiazepines. Published work has examined its influence on GABAergic signalling, expression of BDNF, and inhibition of enkephalin degradation — which extends the action of the body's own regulatory peptides rather than substituting for them. Studies have also looked at attention and memory under stress conditions.
